Wes
Daily Jr has been a Police Officer with the Suffolk County
Police Department, serving a population of one million, four
hundred thousand people for thirty years. Wes retired from
the Suffolk County Police Department on January 2, 2003.
Det.
Daily has extensive experience in the field of Law
Enforcement. He has been a Detective for seventeen years.
Starting out in the Third Precinct as a Police Officer, he
then was transferred to Narcotics as an undercover officer
for two and a half years. He has served in the Community
Service Bureau, and a General Service Squad Detective in the
Third Squad Detectives. His last assignment was in the
Criminal Intelligence Bureau. In this capacity, he
specializes in youth gang activity. Wes was the Special
Assistant to the Police Commissioner from 1997 until his
retirement. In this position, he serves as a confidant and
advisor to the Commissioners. He represents the
Commissioner at public affairs, lectures on the police
mission and responds to special needs within the department. |
He is the Co-Founder and first elected president of the East
Coast Gang Investigators Association, Inc., and the Public
Information Officer for the National Alliance of Gang
Investigators, (1998-2000) and Past President of the
National Alliance of Gang Investigator's Association,
(2000-2002) representing over eighteen thousand law
enforcement professionals in the United States, Canada,
England, and the Virgin Islands. At present Wes is the
Executive Director of ECGIA, the largest gang investigators
association in the country. Wes is a recognized specialist
in the field of street gangs and lectures nationally on this
and other topics.
Wes has pursued his education to obtain a Master's Degree in
Social Policy, a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and
an Associates Degree in Banking, Real Estate, and
Insurance. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy
in 1969 as a Petty Officer Second Class, serving three tours
of duty in Viet Nam.
He is the Founder and Executive Director of Wes Daily &
Associates, Inc., a consultant group offering comprehensive
educational and training programs designed to prevent
violence among youth, training Law Enforcement
Professionals, educators and a variety of other professional
on the topics of youth at risk, culture and diversity and
the collaboration of cross sector professionals and
communities. He is committed to research in violence
prevention through a variety of strategies including
conflict resolution, mediation, multi-cultural education,
security assessments, and community education. At present
Wes is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at St. John’s
University, Oakdale, Long Island, teaching in the Criminal
Justice Leadership course.
Wes was the President of the 21st Century Save
Our Kids Task Force, Inc. Save our Kids is a
multi-racial/multi-ethnic organizational partnership of
adolescents, educators, higher education faculty and staff,
parents, representatives from the law enforcement community,
county government, religious leaders, business persons,
community-based agencies, community activists and others who
share a common goal of preventing violence against youth and
providing effective solutions.
Det. Daily is known by the
members of his community as well as the whole community he
has worked for to be a fair and generous person who is
concern with the social and economic welfare and development
of all members of society. He has worked long and hard to
make a difference in the lives of ALL which he has contact.
